*facepalm* I wish for one moment Jace power up that tiny kernel of common sense and think about this situation logically. Jace might be the best amongst his peers, but Jace is still a freaking child. How in the hell is he going to force Valentine (a seasoned warrior with years of experience on him) to tell Jace anything? I said this earlier on in this chapter, but it bears repeating: HOW CAN JACE BE SO SURE THAT VALENTINE IS TELLING HIM THE TRUTH?
By Valentine’s own admission, he is a habitual liar, and yet everyone honestly still thinks that Valentine really hid the cup in Idris. For all Jace knows, Valentine could be hiding it in one of the dozens of safe houses and properties that he and The Circle owns. Yet, Jace was still going to merrily waltz into the portal?
In the end, this is all just so idiotic. And I’m so glad we are done with this chapter and almost done with the book. We only have the epilogue left folks, and then we will be done. Thank god!
