- If Valentine and The Circle is so against half-breeds then why don’t they hate themselves? I mean, they are essentially half breeds. Also, if you want to keep the world at it’s pure state (and if you hate the mixing of races) then that would automatically exclude even Shadowhunters. Just saying!
- Again why do they give a shit about humans at all? It’s obvious that they feel that they are a separate species and better than humanity.
- They have to sign the Accords, which is not explained, but I’m guessing from the context of this passage that the accords is a magical document or a magical peace treaty. Then why must they renew the Accords every fifteen years? I mean common sense would say that they would make the Accords as permanent as possible. Although admittedly, this does answer my question of: Why Valentine waited after all of this time to attack.
- Wait, a minute I thought The Circle turned on their fellow Shadowhunters, and slaughtered them. This way there was such a big riff between The Shadowhunters and The Circle. What Hodge is saying in this passage is that they were going to kill humans and thus start a war between humans and Downwordlers. I have feeling that this is misprint on Clare’s part. Because This is should be that he was going to kill Shadowhunters, not humans. And even though if Clare had wrote it as Shadowhunter though, it still wouldn’t made any sense. I can understand killing Downworlders. This make logical senses, and fits in with their over all motivations of destroying all the Downworlders. However, it makes zero sense that they would instead kill their own people. Also, if they killed Downworlders, it would still the desired effect of a war between Shadowhunters and Downworlders. So it’s a completely moronic move on Valentines’s part.
So all in all, This just further proves that Valentine and The Circle’s motivations make zero sense, and this adds to the many reasons why they make an really ineffective villains and antagonists.
