Welcome everyone to this very special edition of WTFTMI! Now, most people know that I have hated Jace Wayland since the very first chapter. Yes, this is indeed a record for me. Edward Cullen at least gave me the decency to be a complete and utter asshole until Chapter 3. However, I don’t think I have been very clear as to why I fucking despise Jace Wayland , our main love interest so much. The author, Cassandra Clare has been ever so helpful to include all the reason why in one chapter. So I present to you my good readers five examples why Jace Wayland should die messily in the fire!
First and foremost, look how condescending and mocking Jace is. Why I am supposed to swoon over Jace again? Why did Cassandra Clare make him this fucking unlikable. It’s like she took the worst traits of canon Draco Malfoy and decided to take to multiply them times 100.
You see that right there? Clary admits that he’s a murderer ! Yet, she was romanticized this murderer at the beginning of chapter 2! Why do authors, especially YA authors keep romanticized unrepentant murders?! I know some women have a thing for bad boys, but there is a fundamental difference between someone like James Dean and Sweeney Todd.
You know what makes this worse? Jace himself admits that he’s a killer, and there is never even a hint of remorse or any type of emotion about it. This guy is fucking scary! I suggest that Clary run for the hills and never look back. Honestly, this is not the type of man I want my nieces to grow up and get in a relationship with. Yet, Clare keeps glorying guys like this. ARGGGGH!
You see that shit right there? Do you see it?! Read again, take in E V E R Y W O R D. Jace is out right admitting that he lied to Clary when he promised to stop following her if she let Jace see her hand. He admits right then and that he is not going to stop stalking her. Yes, Jace is admitting that he was STALKING HER. Stalking is not, and should not ever be considered a sign of affection.
This is basically a continuation of the earlier reason. Once again, I want you to read it and take in every solitary word. I want it to absorb into your brain. Cause this? This is an outright confession from Jace what his intentions are for Clary. Jace plans to kidnap Clary and bring her back to the institute against her consent. Also, I would like to point out that he basically said that the mundane police couldn’t stop him, so she literally has no defense against him. This is clearly a boy any girl would love to bring home, right?
I know this was from the beginning, but I thought I bring full circle back to the start. Admittedly, this kind of flimsy reason, however I stand by it The number five and final reason that Jace Wayland should die in the fire is his disgust for mundanes, especially Simon. Yes, all the Shadowhunters we’ve seen so far are like that, but he was especially an asshole for mocking Simon’s feelings.
However, I don’t mind him mocking Clary, because at this point, her stupidity needs to be mocked. Now, ou can blame Jace being extra hard on Simon because of jealousy over Clary. However, Jace hasn’t shown any romantic attraction towards Clary from this and from their first encounter in chapter 1. So I’ll calling bullshit on that. Also, I’m side-eyeing you Clary, because this man was talking shit about your best friend and you never told him to stop. Not once during this entire scene. Jace hates humanity, and he hates Simon for practically no reason. He’s an asshole. And as I said before, you can make a likable asshole type of character. Yet, Clare clearly doesn’t have the talent to write one.
S0 how do you feel about Jace? Do you love him, or you like me and hate his guts?
