Get your hard helmets folks, because this is going to be kicking off the climax of the book! And a what a lackluster and nonsensical kick off it was, wasn’t it?
Seriously, Clary is just noticing that she’s been drawing runes (runes by the way she shouldn’t even know by the way) in the corners of her sketchbook. Clary is also just realizing that the runes are making her artwork real when she should have realized this fact the moment she started drawing. I’m not great with traditional drawing, my talents lay in digital art. However, I do draw sometimes and I don’t know about you guys, but I tend to smudge my drawings to create texture and realistic shading. Yet, apparently, this art student never did that to her own drawings?
Also, this passage really put the final nail in the ‘Shadowhunters Don’t Use Magic’ bullshit that Alec and Jace were spouting since chapter 5. Clary drew the runes, the runes in which made her artwork come to life. Again, every time Clare tries to add a bit of worldbuilding she shoots herself in her own foot. Every freaking time, folks!
Yet the good news is that we are currently five chapters away from the end. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. *breaks into a happy dance*
