Jesus, christ Jace’s stuck his big fat foot into his mouth and I should feel sorry for him, but right now I only feel a tiny bit sorry for him. As I said before, Jace has the biggest mouth of the entire series. He doesn’t know when to shut up and it’s not kicking him in the ass. I mean, maybe it’s because I grew up with a black momma from the South, but I was taught from very early own to not mouth off to elderly people and authority figures.
Hell, to this day, I don’t mouth off to police officers to their face. Yet, Jace like always didn’t exhibit a lick of common sense and keep his mouth shut. And now, he’s going to have the suffer the consequences of it (which I will discuss later).
Now moving on from Jace’s idiocy, I would like to talk about how The Inquisitor mentioned the city had been relatively quiet for close to a decade. And I would like to remind Cassandra Clare once again that THIS BOOK TAKES PLACE IN NEW YORK CITY! New York City, that according to the 2010 U.S. Census has a population of 8.1 million people, making it the biggest city in the United States. A good percentage of that population are made up of freaking Downworlders, and you mean to tell me there has not been any major Supernatural crimes in a city this large in a decade?
I’m nowhere near a math whiz (I’m an artist, not a scientist Jim!) Yet, even I know that this is statistically impossible in a city that large. So, I asked this back in ‘City Of Bones’ and I’m going to ask again: Why does the New York Institute have so little Shadowhunters?” Maryse and Robert alone could not protect such a large a population of mundanes, but The Clave just let them have this post anyway without sending any backup? This didn’t make sense in the previous book, and it still doesn’t make any sense now!
