Now, I just went off on a rant why all of Simon and Jace’s slut shaming was awful and uncalled for. However, we now see Clary admit that she forgot Simon, how she even forgot her own freaking mother. I can understand forgetting Luke, because of the way he treated Clary in the past, but not the other two people who she supposedly loved the most. Clary doesn’t even realize that her own selfishness was wrong. No, what I get from this passage is: How dare people remind me of my selfishness. I’m entitled to constantly forget about my mother and my best friend, so I can pursue a relationship with the hot guy I like!
Although, I still say that Simon’s slut shaming was freaking uncalled for, I have to say Clary has to be brick dumb to not realize that Simon was in love with her. Seriously, Jace told her outright that Simon was in love with her back in Chapter 3, and not to mention all of those unsubtle hints that Simon has been throwing at Clary since the very beginning of this book. Yet, all of that went over our supposedly clever heroine’s head.
