Now, normally I wouldn’t have a problem with this action scene. However, once again we see Jace enjoying killing things. Add to his other abhorrent behavior he’s exhibited, it just continues to prove my claim that Jace is a sociopathic killer. Yet, what singles out this particular passage for me is Clary’s reaction. Clary wanted to see Jace kill the monster, which speaks volumes to me.
Most people would have just turned their heads, because it was obvious that Jace was going to kill the monster. Yet, she wanted watched anyway. I can understand being curious, but watching anyone kill (no matter what it is) is horrifying, and yet Clary still wanted to watch. And after being horrified at the monster’s (the forsaken) messy demise, she then promptly forgot it and starts to fawn over Jace. I have read the rest of the book yet, but this feels like the first indicator of Clary becoming a more darker character. Yet, I know in my hearts of hearts Clare won’t go there.
The sad thing is that could have been a great storyline, especially with (Spoiler Alert) her being Valentine’s daughter. Not only it would make a whole lot of sense, it could have been a very compelling character arc. However, I know that Clare will just push this incident under a rug and forgot about it.
