Someone once said that a book’s characters can only be as smart as its author, and by god, this proves that someone was absolutely right. Because this right here? This is dumb, like ‘Dumber and Dumber’ levels of stupidity. Hodge figured out from the get-go that Clary was Jocelyn Fairchild’s daughter. It was pretty obvious, I mean Clary has the sight, and since she didn’t turn into a Forsaken when Jace drew a rune on her, it’s pretty much confirmed that she has Shadowhunter blood. Clare also already alright told us in the earlier chapters that it’s pretty damn rare for a Shadowhunter to leave the community, and with the obvious fact that Clary is still untrained and has no knowledge of the Shadowworld; Also add in the family resemblance, and it’s a pretty easy to come to conclusion that Clary had to be Jocelyn Fairchild’s daughter.
And yet, Hodge instead of going to the authorises, or going to someone who could possibly help Jocelyn, he just put his head in the sand. Hodge basically thought that if he just ignored it and all the other overwhelming evidence that Valentine was back that it would just magically go away. It’s not only a moronic move on his part, but it stinks of cowardice. I said it once, and I say again: The Circle Members are a bunch of yellow belly chicken shits, and stupid ones at that.
Also, my last question is to Clare herself: Why in the fuck did you write this? I’m assuming that you were trying to write Hodge and The Lightwoods as sympatric characters who were just people got caught up in a bad crowd. But the more you reveal of their pasts, the more you reveal that they adults are all horrible people who don’t really give a shit about preserving life, human or otherwise.
