As I said earlier, Dorothea’s only purpose as a character was to be Deus Ex-Machina. I swear that Dorothea has to be like the elderly, and less fashion cautious version of Alice Cullen from Twilight. No, Dorothea doesn’t have visions, but replace Alice’s visions with the tarot cards, and you can barely see the difference between the two.
I swear to god this goddamn plot twist came out of nowhere, and was pulled straight out Cassandra Clare’s ass. There was no set up whatsoever for the plot twist that some of Clary’s memories were blocked. Then Clare tried to make it seem that she actually foreshadowed this with Jace’s comment that was basically, “It all makes sense now, because she doesn’t remember having the sight.” Um no Clare. You can’t just leave that as your only piece of foreshadowing. You have to have a few more clues and scatter through out the previous chapters to make this plot twist convincing.
It just feels that Clare does have the skill to write well, but especially with this plot twist right here it just feels to me that she was just too lazy to actually do the work, to go that extra mile to write well. This plot twist (or this flop of a plot twist) just goes on to prove my point that Clare is a lazy writer.
