The hallway beyond was long and white, almost tunnel-like, as if it had been carved out
of white rock. The Inquisitor hurried along, his witchlight bouncing brightly o the walls.
For such a short-legged man he moved remarkably fast, turning his head from side to side as he went, his nose wrinkling as if he were smelling the air. Simon had to hurry to keep pace as they passed a set of huge double doors, thrown wide open like wings. In the room beyond, Simon could see an amphitheater with row upon row of chairs in it, each one occupied by a black-clad Shadowhunter. Voices echoed o the walls, many raised in anger, and Simon caught snatches of the conversation as he passed, the words blurring as the speakers overlapped each other.

“What does it matter what he wants? He’s a renegade and a liar; do you really think any
attempt to appease him would benefit us in the end?”
“You know a patrol found the dead body of a werewolf child on the outskirts of
Brocelind? Drained of blood. It looks like Valentine’s completed the Ritual here in Idris.”

Chapter Four: Daylighter
Wow, just wow! This is the first true look we get of the actual Clave and this really finally confirm that The Clave is just as dumb as Valentine. They really are the keystone kops! First of all, it’s clear to anyone with a modicum of common sense. He wants the Mortal Instruments. You can logically deduct this from Valentine slauttering the Silent Brothers and all the lengths he went to get the Mortal cup in the first book. He wants the Mortal Instruments so he committ genocide on the Downworlders.
For all of his idiociy, Valentine is very much single minded when it comes to goals. As I have been saying from the very beginning, the only reason why Valentine is getting away with so much is because The Clave is dumb enough to let him. As evidenced that another werewolf child is dead close to Idris’s border, but during Clary’s journy to Alicante we did not see them spot any visuable patrols, and actually for a place that is supposed to be locked up tighetr than Fort Knox ,it was ridicilously simple for Clary and Luke to slip inside Alicante’s borders.
Honestly, is truly sad to see what are suposed to be the heroes of this book, it’s govermeent, and the fucking Valentine being dumbed downed to make the self-insert look good. Simmply, because Clare is just too damn lazy to put in the work to make this plot work.
