“I don’t feel like talking,” said Jace, “to either of you, as a matter of fact.”
“Yes, you do,” Alec said. “You really want to talk to me about this.”
“I doubt that,” Jace said. He had turned his gaze back to Clary. “You didn’t come here
alone, did you?” he said slowly, as if realizing that the situation was even worse than he’d
thought. “Who came with you?” […]
“Jace,” Alec said into the silence, a tinge of panic creeping into his voice. “Haven’t you
wondered where I’ve been all day?” […]
“Which is what I have to talk to you about,” Alec hissed at Jace—who looked, Clary saw
with surprise, even worse than he had before; he looked as if he were about to pass out.
“About the errand I went on last night—the thing I had to deliver to the Gard—”
“Alec, stop. Stop,” Jace said, and the harsh desperation in his voice cut the other boy oʃ; […]
— City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Chapter 6: Bad Blood
Jace and Alec have such a special bond, don’t know? *rolls eyes* Yeah, that is bullshit and don’t you think I won’t be having words about that later on. Now, for the big issue. Re-read these snippets, other than Alec trying and failing to get Jace to listen to them do you see a pattern? Alec needs to tell Jace something vitally important and I will bet my beloved laptop that this is about Simon and his imprisonment. Yet, it’s being pushed aside for this soap opera-esque drama.
Again if want this level of drama, I would just watch General Hospital.
Simon’s life is endangered and Cassandra Clare instead of realizing that trumps everything else shows what the real priority of this series is about: Clary and Jace’s relationship issues. I just want to shake Clare so much and tell her to get on with the actual so-called plot of this book. I could finish reading “Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy” instead of this drek.
One last issue before I’m done with this post? Alec said he had been gone all day? Is it me, or does the timeline of chapters five and six just seem weird to me? It was the night when Clary left Amatis, so what? She was just sitting around all day? Yet, with Alec and Simon, it feels like it was a day. *throws up hands* I give up, my brain hurts trying to iron out the timeline.
