Simon shrugged. “There aren’t a lot of openings for me in the conversation. It seems to be
either about Shadowhunter politics or people I’ve never heard of, or both.”
The smile disappeared. “We can be something of a closed circle, we Nephilim. It’s the way
of those who are shut out from the rest of the world.”
“Don’t you think you shut yourselves out? You despise ordinary humans—”
“‘Despise’ is a little strong,” said Sebastian. “And do you really think the world of humans
would want anything to do with us? All we are is a living reminder that whenever they
comfort themselves that there are no real vampires, no real demons or monsters under the
bed—they’re lying.” He turned his head to look at Jace, who, Simon realized, had been
staring at them both in silence for several minutes.

Chapter 3: Amatis
Hey, Cassandra Clare, you think that I can’t see right through your bullshit?! Honey, you are not that subtle. First of all, you are trying to sugar coat how much Shadowhunters are xenophobic bigots who could give Trump Supporters a run for their money.
Shadowhunters treat Mundanes and Downworlders just about the same. The only difference is that your kind is actively oppressing the Downworlders and you are too afraid of the Mundanes to try that shit. From the moment, Jace and Alec saw Simon it was “Mundane this” and “Mundane that”. They didn’t even try to befriend him because he was Mundane and being a Mundane means a stupid useless ordinary human. From the jump, there has been a very anti-human theme to this entire series. Just like Downworlders, Shadowhunters reduce people to their identities and treat people with the same smug superiority just because they are Half-Angels.
All I have to do is look through all the times that Jace was bigoted and racist towards Simon before he was even turned into a Vampire. Even after Simon saved Alec, we never see Jace or Alec be thankful for Simon saving Jace’s parabatai’s life. No, it was right back to “Mundane” and then later “Vampire”.
And if you guys care about Mundanes so much, then why was Raphael allowed to get away with killing Simon? Why do Downworlders and Demons get to kill Mundanes without The Clave doing a damn thing about it? All throughout “City of Ashes” there was a squad of Shadowhunters crawling through the city and I have yet to see evidence that they actually did anything but participate in the final battle on Valentine’s boat.
So inclusion Sebastian: Fuck you, because you are a lying liar that lies, and that goes double for your creator Cassandra Clare.
