It was much easier to guilt Alec than Isabelle. “It is good to see you, Clary,” he said,
“except of course for the fact that you’re really not supposed to be here. Isabelle told me
you got here on your own somehow, and I’m impressed—”
“Could you not encourage her?” Jace inquired.
“But I really, really need to talk to Jace about something. Can you give us a few
“I need to talk to him too,” she said. “About our mother—”

Chapter 6: Bad Blood
Wow, I’m just stunned. In this passage, Clary actually admits that she is manipulating people’s emotions to get what she wants. I don’t think Bella Swan even outright admitted it. *slow clap* Clary just managed to outdo Bella Swan insure assholery.
She even says outright, that when she couldn’t get Isabelle to fall for her emotional manipulations Clary changed her target to Alec because he was easier to manipulate. Then after that, she decides to change the subject of her emotional manipulation to Jace.
Clary is using her own mother, as leverage over Jace to do what she wants. Again, what more proof do you need to see that Clary is only in this for her own self-interest and that she never came to Idris for her mother. Clary came to Idris for Jace Wayland and no one can get in her way. Clary deserves every bit of Jace’s ire right now. Shit like this is the main reason why I will never feel sorry for Clarissa Fray.
