“And as for the Lightwoods,” Simon said, “it’s not that I like them that much. I mean, I
like Isabelle, and I sort of like Alec and Jace, too. But there’s this girl. And Jace is her
brother.”
When Samuel replied, he sounded, for the ɹrst time, genuinely amused. “Isn’t there

City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Chapter 6: Bad Blood
Oh my fucking god, why does everything have to do with Clary Fray??? I hate that she keeps fucking rubbing it in that Simon and The Lightwoods will never have a complete arch. Again, everything fucking thing has to do with Clary. Simon is not to allowed to have a moment that in the end does not revolve around Clary. This is why he will always remain a two-dimensional character and why Clary Fray is a mary sue.
I’m going to actually say this again because it bears repeating: This is not a subplot! This is not a character arc. This is literally the author knowing that she cheated her audience out of character development and laughing at all her “haters”. Not caring for one minute, that she is also screwing over her own audience. I don’t understand how her audience is not braying for her blood right now!
Simon doesn’t want to give up the Lightwoods because it might upset Clary. Jace is worried about Simon being killed because it might accept Clary. EVERYTHING DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ABOUT YOUR MAIN CHARACTER!
