“You were irting with Aline,” Simon said. “It didn’t seem like all you cared about was
“That is so not your business,” Jace said. “And besides, Clary is my sister. You do know
“I was there in the faerie court too,” Simon replied. “I remember what the Seelie Queen
said. The kiss that will free the girl is the kiss that she most desires.”
It all comes back to Clary and the faux love triangle instead of you know giving Simon an actual storyline. Something the show knows what’s up. [….]
“Because,” Simon said. “If you want me to lie—not to Clary, but to all your Shadowhunter
friends—if you want me to pretend that it was Clary’s own decision not to come here, and if
you want me to pretend that I don’t know about her powers, or what she can really do,
then you have to do something for me.”
“Fine,” Jace said. “What is it you want?”
Simon was silent for a moment, looking past Jace at the line of stone houses fronting the
sparkling canal. Past their crenellated roofs he could see the gleaming tops of the demon
towers. “I want you to do whatever you need to do to convince Clary that you don’t have
feelings for her. And don’t—don’t tell me you’re her brother; I already know that. Stop
stringing her along when you know that whatever you two have has no future. And I’m not
saying this because I want her for myself. I’m saying it because I’m her friend and I don’t
want her hurt.” […]
– City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
Chapter 3: Amatis
You guys remember how I started out this whole blog because I was fucking tired of book stans telling me how wonderful these books are and how the show is an abomination of the books, and blah, blah, fucking blah? *rolls my eyes* Yeah this? Proves that they are still completely full of shit! Simon on the show has his own storyline, that that has him dealing with his introduction into the Shadow world. He also has to deal with the constant pull of his humanity vs. his vampire instincts.
Actually, I have gone back to watching the show.I still hate the Izzy storyline and I haven’t quite made it to season 3 yet, but you know what? “City of Ashes” made me realize that how the show handled that same storyline is VASTLY better and more coherent than the bullshit Clare tried to shovel down our throats. You know what? If you love the books fine! I have always been clear that I don’t drag people who find the books a guilty pleasure.
I have my own guilty pleasures *cough* Dante’s Cove *cough*. And I know it’s bad, I know it’s horrible, and I acknowledge it. I don’t try to say that Dante’s Cove is the next “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” because I would be lying out of my ass. Hell, I volunteer read old Harlequin romance novels for almost a freaking decade Yes, some of them was basically purple prose porn, but you know what I owned up to that. These assholes, can look at snippets like these and then try to tell me with a straight face that the books are better than the show.
*throws up hands*
Instead of -I don’t know-giving us all the personal conflict for Simon that his storyline deserves like on the show. We continuously get this bullshit love triangle shoved in our faces; like, fuck off, Cassandra Clare for real! It always has to be about your fucking self-insert and her James Dean wannabe Gary Stu love interest. No one cares, I know I sure in the hell don’t!
Give Simon Lewis The Fucking Storyline He Deserves!
Now that I out of the rant of my system, I have one more fish to fucking fry.
First of all, here is Simon once a fucking again treating Clary like she is an object to be won. She might as well be a chew toy that Simon and Jace are fighting for because they surely don’t think that Clary Fray has any agency of her fucking own. Again, for a so-called feminist, Clary Fray is being treated much like Bella Swan was being treated in “Eclipse”.
Honestly, if one of them actually decides to pee on her to mark her their property I wouldn’t be goddamn surprised!
