I have been patiently waiting for this entire chapter to mention this, but I’m going to mention it now: HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO SAY THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG?! Seriously, everyone in this damn scene has mentioned that something is wrong in the Silent City. So much so, in fact that I’m pretty sure that this has to be at least the fifth time that a character has mentioned that something is wrong.
Newsflash Cassandra Clare; this is not how you set a foreboding scene or, to give your audience an overall feeling of dread. It doesn’t even produce anxiety in the build up to the scene. This is literally you telling us directly that we should feel some type of trepidation by using your characters as mouthpieces. Once again, this all boils down to Clare showing us that she cannot set the scene properly, so she needs to tell us. SHOW NOT TELL, CLARE!!!
