I said in the last post, but I’m going to say it again for the people in the back: any shred of sympathy or empathy I might have for Jace Wayland is now completely gone. I didn’t have a lot to begin with, but RIGHT NOW it’s definitely gone for good. Because yet again, Jace is showing to be exactly who he really is. He is still a racist, xenophobic misogynistic dick wad!
After got to talk about this earlier, although I did touch upon this point with Clary but not with Jace. However, this is proof positive that has been no character growth in any of the characters since the beginning of the last book. The characters are still the same static one-dimensional characters that we got in the previous book.
No one has learned anything from their past experiences, or grown in any way. In every book, there should be a definite change and growth to the character as we go further into the text. However, this proves without a doubt that NONE of the characters have grown even the tiniest bit up to this point.
Now, that I have ranted about this to ad nauseum, I now want to point out that Simon and Jace are just as bad as each other. And when you add Clary’s selfishness, and her ridiculous levels of narcissism does not in any way equate a healthy relationship in any shape, way, or form.
So why do the readers have to suffer through this boring, and unhealthy love triangle? There’s no real suspense on who Clary is going to choose in the end. There is no real contest here, Clary is always going to pick Jace over Simon. So, this is basically a waste of everyone’s time.
