OH, MY GOD! This is chapter 21 of ‘City of Bones’ all over again, but this time on a smaller scale. Let’s just stop all plot, all action to talk and give some exposition instead. And again, just because Cassandra Clare has Jace pointing out how ludicrous Imogen stopping in the middle of a battle to chat is ridiculous doesn’t make it right.
Again for the people in the back: Just because you acknowledge something is wrong doesn’t automatically make you right.
I’m going to further break down why this is completely ridiculous and why. First of all, Imogen is the Inquisitor and she supposed to be like the Judge Dread of the Shadowhunter world. She’s supposed to be a hard trained warrior, and any warrior, hell anyone with basic common sense would know not to take your eyes off the enemy in a battle No one just stops and has a conversation in a middle of a battle like that, their back practically open for any demon to attack.
Foxholes are one thing, where you are in a fortified structure, where you can duck behind something and the enemy is sometimes hundreds of feet away from you. In this situation, demons are all around them, their people fighting and dying. Yet the Inquisitor doesn’t give it a shit as long as she has this talk/exposition with Jace. What a way to put all the Shadowhunters there right under the fucking bus.
And lastly, I find it really strange that the demons are just stopping attacking them long enough for Jace and The Inquisitor to have this conversation. What they did put a force field around them that we didn’t know about? Actually, the Inquisitor putting a force field around the both of them what makes scene make a lot more sense.
Anyway, in the end, this whole scene is just a bunch an illogic mess in place of a real final battle/climax that we have been waiting for. It’s such a slap in the face to all the people who actually love this damn series (I really feel sorry for the fans at this point) and drug themselves through this whole catastrophe of a book to get to this point.
