Ah, look at this, Cassandra Clare is throwing this very small bone to the all the Alec/Magnus shippers and showing us that she gives a shit about her Queer fans—not! Once again, I would like to point out the only reasons why Clare switched the POV from Jace’s to Maia’s POV is so she not only wank over how beautiful Jace is but to also drop one big fat info dump on top of us about Maia’s background.
However, I would again like to point out that Clare can’t even spare us even ONE FREAKING SCENE FROM MAGNUS’S OR ALEC’S POINT OF VIEW. Yet, Maia who is lovely, but is still a new character, gets a POV scene before her only Queer characters in her entire series so far. But yet again, I’m supposed to pat Clare on the back for being just oh so progressive and diverse? Yeah, how about no! In this current day and age, this type of ‘diversity’ is no longer enough.
And for the record, Diviresty and Inclusion are not just putting tokens queer characters in the narrative, it is also giving these characters their own storylines and screen time. Diversity without inclusion is just another way for authors and media creators to get patted on the back for daring to allow queer characters to exist in their white bread straight cis world.
