“And you talked to Raphael? He still has no idea why you can go out into the sun?”
“None. He seems pretty pissed about it too.” Simon blinked at her sleepily, as if it were two in the morning instead of the afternoon. “I think it upsets his ideas about the way things should be. Plus he’s going to have a harder job getting me to roam the night when I’m determined to roam the day instead.

Spoiler Alert: There are spoilers for later books
When I outlined this post last week, I was all set to rant again about how Simon being the first Vampire to be turned into a daywalker was complete bullshit. However, a very nice anon on Tumblr explained to me that the reason why Simon was a daywalker was that he fed on Jace specifically. Remember, The Seelie Queen basically outright told everyone that Valentine experimented on Jace as a child, and then Jocelyn (and by proxy Clary invitro).
According to the anon, it was the demon blood in Jace that made Simon a daywalker. And yeah, admittedly that makes a kind of sense. Expect a few things: 1) We all know that Jace is not really Valentine’s son. So how the fuck did Jace get demon blood? 2) Why the fuck didn’t Clare take time out to actually I don’t know maybe EXPLAIN SOME OF THIS TO US!
I personally would have taken a scene with Simon, and Raphael figuring this out over this “love triangle” bullshit any day. Also, all of this really gives my theory that Jace was always supposed to be Clary’s older brother and that Clare only backtracked due to pressure from her publishers and her readers even more credence.
