Note: Hey guys, there has been yet another mix-up. Things blew up with work, and I have been trying this fix everything. I had decided not to post this week content, but now I realized that I have accidentally scheduled some rough drafts posts. I have proofread them and added a gif/meme reaction to all the posts that have been published so far this week. Thanks so much for everything guys and things will go back to normal for now on!
I don’t mind in humor in serious situations, there is a reason why there is such thing called Gallow’s humor. Buffy: The Vampire Slayer was famous for having those type of situations. However, like always, Cassandra Clare has missed on executing Gallow’s humor the mark for me.
This doesn’t come off as Gallow’s humor, no this comes off as another form of Jace’s love of violence and killing. Read the first snippet, and then read the second snippet again, Jace already admitted that he felt nothing but disgust and hate for the demons.
Then he’s talking about how it wasn’t all that bad and joking around. As said I back in ‘City of Bones’, Jace loves killing, and it’s a way you can write that as charming like for example in ‘Hannibal’. In that series, the writers blatantly owned up to their character’s flaw and wrote him that way intentionally.
However, to Clare, Jace is practically perfect. This is not perfect, this is sociopathy and since Clary is also a so sociopath they are a match made in hell. Honestly, in a better book, they could have been Bonnie and Clyde type of serial vigilante killers. They already have the messed up the incestuous relationship.
Yet, instead, Clare is completely blind to her precious lead character’s obvious flaws and thus once again we are denied nice things!
