This is the final panel of Chapter 19! I can’t believe we finally made it to the end you guys. This book has been a fucking slog to get here and so happy that we finally got to point. Now, all we have to do is the epilogue, the outtakes, and the final review and I can finally put this puppy to rest.
Now I have rambled on long enough, on to the sporking!
So now we are back at the Insitute and Jace is packing up his stuff. And I get that he feels betrayed but let’s be clear: It’s freaking illegal for someone underage to leave their home. It’s called being a runaway, and by law, he has to stay at the Institute because like it or not The Lightwoods are his legal guardians. All Maryse have to do is simply call the police and they would nip that shit in the bud.
Speaking fucked up parenting, How about school? Jace is what sixteen right now? He can legally drop out of school, sure. Yet, how is Jace going to support himself? He is just going to mooch off of Luke? Luke, who by all rights can barely afford Clary as it is? And don’t get me started on Idris because Idris is in Europe and plane trips to Europe do not fall off of trees!
Can we also talk about how Maryse is obviously emotionally manipulating and trying to guilt Jace into staying by using her own kids as leverage? I mean, Jesus can Maryse be any worse of a parent right now.
And finally, because Cassandra Clare hasn’t already slapped us in the face several times at this point, she basically left this chapter off as a cliffhanger because of fuck her readers apparently! No, we don’t get to see Jace and Maryse possibly start their way on to a possible reconciliation, or have Jace finally and diffidently cut Maryse off. Because we don’t need no stinking resolutions in this book, am I right?!
