WHY DID WE EVEN HAVE THIS FUCKING SCENE IN THE FIRST PLACE?! Seriously, this whole chapter was fucking useless, and I want to stab someone, I’m so pissed off!!! So let me break this idiocy down point by point:
- We first heard about Clary’s mental block back in Chapter Seven, when Dorothea reveals it during a tarot reading.
- Hodges calls Brother Jeremiah this chapter, and he comes hours later to examine Clary.
- Brother Jeremiah quickly examines Clary and tells us once again she has a very strong mental block and that they have to go The City of Bones to break the mental block.
- They go to the City of The Bones, and now The Silent Brothers have collectively examined her to tells us all again that she has a very strong mental block and that she would need to go to Magnus Bane (the warlock who put the block on her in the first place) to have it broken.
This scene is completely fucking useless and added almost nothing to the plot. Yeah, the Silent Brothers revealed the person who put the mental block on Clary, but that was the only thing it did to move the plot forward. Everything else was just dry exposition and badly done characterization. fortunately, we are currently done with Chapter ten, and now thankfully we can move on to Chapter Eleven where we finally meet the man himself, Magnus Fucking Bane. I’m so excited that I don’t think my ovaries can stand it! I’ll see you guys tomorrow for my ‘3 Things I Loved About Chapter 10’ post.
