I have a lot of thoughts about these two snippets. First off, it says a lot about the lack of chemistry between Jace and Clary. Seriously, even with Simon and Jace hating each other they still have more chemistry together than Clary and Jace have. It’s both ironic and hilarious.
Although I would like to admit right now that I have never been a fan of love triangles, but I do admit that it would have been interesting to see a love triangle that was Simon and Clary fighting over Jace. It’s would have been different from the usual status quo of two boys fighting over a girl. But at unfortunately, since this book is obviously Clare’s wank fantasy, we can’t have nice things.
I think the last thing I want to point out to guys is how Simon is punishing Clary by not talking to her. Yet, he’s all too happy to be civil and cordial with Jace. Even, though Jace has been talking shit about him since the beginning of this book.
This is a complete and utter double standard, and he’s basically treating Clary like she betrayed him, when in fact, they have never been in any type of romantic relationship. It’s fucking sexist and gross, and again any sympathy I had for Simon keeps rapidly draining away. It’s a shame, because, out all of these nimrods, he was the only one who had any potential to be a decent character.
